Grading & Handling FAQ
Do I remove the card from the holder before submitting for grading?
Yes — grading companies (PSA, BGS, SGC, and others) require cards to be submitted raw, outside any holder. The TRUE Shield THIN is designed for storage, display, and transport to the point of submission, not for submission inside the holder itself. Remove the card carefully before packaging it for grading intake.
Will using a magnetic holder before submission cause any issues at intake?
Magnetic holders are widely used by collectors to protect cards during handling and shipping prior to grading. There is no evidence that brief storage in a magnetic holder affects grading outcomes. To eliminate any concern, remove the card from the holder well before submission and inspect it under good lighting.
Is this a "grading submission" holder or a "protective storage" holder?
This is a protective storage and display holder. If you intend to submit a card for grading, use a soft card sleeve or team bag for the actual submission package per your grading company's instructions. The TRUE Shield THIN is ideal for protecting your raw cards between submissions or on display.
Will the card sit flat inside the holder?
The TRUE Shield THIN is sized for standard trading cards. Cards should lie flat and secure within the holder. If a card has significant warping prior to insertion, the holder will not correct that warp — inspect cards before storage if flatness is a concern for grading.
Is this holder safe for cards I plan to grade later?
Yes. The acid-free, PVC-free construction means the holder will not introduce chemical damage or residue to your card during normal storage. UV-blocking material helps preserve surface integrity, including autographs and chrome finishes, until you are ready to submit.
